With Ellen and Kainoa. Having fun in this session networking. Got to meet and talk stories with @Cybraryman1, he's the person who put together all the educational twitter hashtags. He gave us some funny stories about his teaching in New York and as a track coach. Check out his site. Lots of resources. We even set up a Skype project with him. In this session its pretty cool. The people in session write topics and ideas that they would like to discuss and if they want to facilitate. Then we're check marking which sessions we'd like to discuss. Based on the votes, they will make a schedule for the discussion. Then we'll be breaking out into sessions. This is way cool! It's ideas that we want to learn more about and discuss

Here's a picture of one of the topics I voted for. I think this woulud help out school reach parents and the community.

Describing how she got her faculty and school into technology. 4-day technology workshops
Teach them how to embed technology into their classroom affectively
Podcast: techcellent search in, showing technology being used in the class

Ideas from Audience on training teachers in technology:
1. Playground, place where teachers can play with the tech toys like smart boards, ipads. Teachers can test the tech tools. Non threating. In a teacher area that is available on their breaks or prep time. Have a tech teacher
2. Have the students teach the teachers web 2.0. "iStaff", have clubs or groups
3. Teacher need one on one work on technology. Maybe online tools or face to face.
4. Students helper during the summer. 7 days of training with tech. Student gives up one class to help teacher. Borrow when teacher is teaching. High school credit, maybe an academy. Some get credits from the University.
5. Have teachers show case what they are doing in classes using technology. This may help hesitant teachers see the value in using technology in their classes. Limit it to 7-10 minutes to share.
6. Assign teacher a particular type of technology to use. Then they only learn one. The kids were verse in the technology and didn't need to teach the students after a few years. They learn from that one teacher is using it all the time.
7. Smackdown: students and parents, is a
8. Parent Technology Training
9. Training for Prinipals - what should they look for good technology being used. Just because have tech, doesn't mean being effective
10. Training for teacher - in-service days, summer days?
11. Arizona Technology Matrix - helps teachers to see what the scaffold / stages of using technology, less than 5 minutes long videos
12. Have teachers just take one components of their lesson and add technology. Doesn't have to be big, but something that is simple and effective. Could set up time to mee with Ellen, Carmen, Liana, Kalei. Take an already good lesson, not to create a new one, take an old one and "techquify"
13. Coteaching with another teacher who is an expert. Tag teaming when teaching a new technology in a class. This builds confidence and builds skill in using the technology in the class. Tech Support person can team teach for the first time. Then the second time, the Teach Support are around but not leading. Just there for support.
14. Show the teacher the benefits of using the technology tools.
15. Teachers need TIME. They need the time to actually try and play and be guided in using these technology. This may help them be confortable using the tools. They need someone around to guide and asure them when using the technology. They also need a purpose for implemented the technology. How does it relate to their students learning?

Using Social Media to Build Schoo/Community Relationships

Lots of discussion about monitoring social media in education. Discussion around the use of twitter and bulleying. There was talk about how to monitor. Gave my mana`o about how the underlining problem is bulleying. Social media is just another avenue to bulley. I shared how our teachers use twitter with the kids as young as 3rd grade and how the teacher monitors. The teacher models for the kids. How 5th grader teacher teaches how to comment on her blog. What is appropriate and what is not.
